Yes, it can. I wanted to change ours because we have the washer on the right of the dryer and I wanted the door to open so that it would be easy to move the clothes into the dryer directly from the washer. I changed my door so that the hinges are now on the left side, when they were originally on the right. The directions on how to do it are in the manual. It took me about 10 minutes and I didn't know what I was doing...just read the directions and got it swapped over
