• I have mine sitting next to the matching washer. You don't have to stack it.

• Yes, I have it side by side. It might actually work better like this as there is less movement (vibration)from the washer.

• Yes, this set can be placed side by side, even without a pedestal. The only thing the pedestal does is raise the height of the doors so they are easier to get to.
