I have the elbow that came with dryer installed so that it can be vented to the side.

Yes, this model can be adjusted to side-venting. An adapter kit, part number 383EEL9001L, may be purchased from your LG retailer. This kit contains the necessary duct components to change the dryer vent location. My dryer came with a back vent, but if you got a long enough dryer hose I don't see why it couldn't reach around and vent to the side. Guess you'd have to ask an installer to be sure.
