“Do you have to use the Sidekick with an LG washer or can it be used with other brands too?”

There's a switch that needs to be blocked. And it will work.

Lg only. Might be able to be modified to work with other brands, but I wouldn't risk it....this thing acts as a sturdy pedestal too, so if you put another model on top it could wobble uncontrolably.
