The included stand does not allow for vertical orientation. If using the included VESA adapter plate, page 22 of the owner's manual states, "Vertical orientation is not recommended.", with no explanation of this limitation. There was an answer to a similar question on this model's listing on LG's website which claims: "The LG 24 inch UltraFine 4K UHD IPS Monitor with macOS Compatibility, Model # 24MD4KL is not designed to be used in portrait mode and does not have the necessary venting to rid the excess heat that is generated by flipping it into portrait mode". How these details arise known is not shared, and I am unable to locate any writing or video to verify this reasoning.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, this monitor does not pivot. Monitors that are not designed to pivot cannot be pivoted because they don't have the appropriate venting. Rotating a monitor into portrait mode results in an accumulation of excessive heat and if a monitor is not designed to pivot, it does not have the proper ventilation so it will not be able to handle the excessive heat. ^Daphane
