“I am trying to set up my monitor to run 1440p at144hz for my Xbox X but it runs at only 60hz is there something I should be Turning off to allow that to happen? Should HDR be turned off? wondering what needs to be adjusted from the monitor or my Xbox?”

On the moniter you have to go the settings and turn off or disable freesync.
