I have a September 2017 build and it is OK so far. The earlier builds, supposedly up to May/June of 2017, need a support piece to stabilize the disc tray as the high speed when 4K discs are played causes the vibration that some are experiencing and the tray wasn't reinforced sufficiently.. LG is having people who experience the noise go to a repair shop to have the new support piece put in on older units that cannot be returned to the place of purchase for another unit. As to your only playing the one disc, whether it's a cartoon or not, you would hear the noise as it is dependent on the 4K playback speed, not the type of movie. Hopefully your unit will be OK as a July '17 build as LG did discover and correct the issue. If not and you are outside your return window, at least you know you can get it fixed quite readily...a few of the posts about it I've read say that the piece takes just a few minutes to install by the shop and it has been in and out quickly and.....problem solved. HTH.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will know... We purchased online and received a "May" unit. Second movie we watched, very obvious noise issue. Returned unit, had to wait 30+ days for new inventory at our local BB. Once we purchased a September 2017 unit, no issues after several movies.
