As an unlocked phone, the LG - V40 ThinQ with 64GB Memory Cell Phone (Unlocked) - Aurora Black is not assigned to any carrier and is compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon. The activate now option requires that you activate the device with one of BestBuy's supported carriers, usually Verizon, AT&T, or Sprint. Activate later still gives you the opportunity to activate the device on the previously mentioned carriers, as well as any other that is compatible with the device, but doesn't include the added discount at checkout. Te phone does not require activation at checkout and should work simply by inserting a SIM card from a compatible carrier but the added discount is an incentive provided, usually by the carrier, so that customers can activate the device on their network at checkout. You already have a SIM from Verizon so you can simply insert that into the phone but again, you do not get the discount at checkout...^IFV
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can just insert your old Sim assuming it is the same size. I did this with my Daughter's Verizon phone. On hers it worked but I have seen Verizon sims not like being switched and in that case you end up on the phone with Verizon trying to sort it out. If you are buying the phone for an existing line and plan to just swap sims then you probably have to pay the "activate later" price. BestBuy gets a kickback from the carrier for each new line they activate. So if you are letting them activate the phone with a new number they pass some of that fee back to the customer in the form of a lower price if they activate the phone.
