“Does the strip mounted behind TV respond to color changes on TV screen? If TV screen image changes color on one side to green, will the strip on the same side of the TV start glowing green? How does it work, is there optical sensor feedback?”

There is no optical sensor. You will need to manually change the color.

From my experience it works with sound and you need to have the app open maybe there as some kind of attachment for it like a hub but I haven’t looked into it and it doesn’t come with one

Nope. Doesn’t work that way. There’s no external sensor to read surroundings. Colors are determined by you on the app.
