adhesive backing...just peel off the paper and stick. There's no batteries to use. You plug it into the wall and then use the app to add it to your wifi network. Control the lighting through the app or asking Alexa or Google Home.

No, the light strip comes with a standard outlet plug that must remain connected to the light strip in order to power it.
