“For my home theater I have 4 components that I'm trying to hard wire to have internet connection. My TV, receiver, blu ray and cable box. I have just 1 ethernet connection coming out of the wall. Can I use this so that they all have internet connection?”

Yes you can. This is an unmanaged switch and will give internet access to all devices plugged into the unit. TIP: use Cat 6 cabling as Cat5e is being phased out and is no longer the standard.
