My understanding of this device after using it is that it basically acts as a wifi card for your computer. It still needs a router/modem to actually connect to in order to get the signal to your computer. If you already have a router/modem set up that is producing the signal, then plugging this into your computer should be able to pull the signal to you without issue as long as it's compatible with your OS.

Yes, as long as you have a wireless router, this will get you on line fast. It is fast enough to get your games working great, provided you have a fast router.

It depends on your Internet speed. I got the higher end model because I already have really fast Internet. I downloaded elder scrolls within just a few hours. It should work for what you need it to. But if you have slower Internet then you don't need such a high end model. My friend has slow Internet and he uses the 300 version whereas I use the 1200.
