Hi Iski. The Linksys RE6500 needs to be setup first with your current Wi-Fi network. You can follow guide on how: https://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=140738. When assigning a Wi-Fi name for the range extender, it is best to make it different from your main router’s Wi-Fi name, for easy identification. Once properly configured, you can then connect your TV to the range extender. If you need further assistance, feel free to contact us at [email protected].

If you have a laptop, just plug in to one of the LAN ports or change your Wi-Fi connection to the extender, but I recommend the LAN connection to prevent dropping in the middle of the setup and locking up the unit possibly. If you are using any kind of onboard LAN, try to make sure it is not Realtek. This unit seems to not like that brand of LAN port. A simple USB to LAN converter is an alternate if your port is Realtek. Good Luck
