“I need a range extender with an input port for a hard-wired Ethernet cable coming directly from my router. I do not see such an input port in the back view of either the Linksys RE6500 or RE9000, both of which you have suggested.”

The 6500 that we have has the ethernet plug and I am using it on a desk top computer.
