It shouldn't matter. To use this device your modem should be set up as a "dumb" bridge passing everything through to the router/wap. You may find some of the ISP providers won't want to walk you through using a piece of equipment different than theirs.

Your ISP doesn't matter with an extender. The extender isn't looking at how the data is routed outside of your home. As long as you have a wireless router set up already, it will take that wireless signal, and then re-transmit it across your home to help extend the range of coverage.
