“Thinking of upgrading soon (have the old WRT54G2 or something), how easy is it to setup w/o using the disc? Also, if something happens to it, defective or anything, could I plug back in my old Linksys and use that again w/o issues?”

I had some issues setting the Linksys AC1200+ up, but the phone support was great and we got it connected and working. I did check out the disc to see if it was helpful, but it was a lesson in frustration. It has every step in several languages, but the steps and trouble shooting are not broken down into language sections. In other words, you can't skip to the language you read, you have to scroll thru every language in each step to get to the next step. So don't worry about not being able to use it. Unless you reset your old Linksys router to factory defaults, you can connect it back to your modem and use it again w/o issues, because you programed it to work with the modem you have; You can always set it up again (unless it's just not working). (I know this from personal experience!)

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It's very easy to setup without using the disc. It comes pre-built with a SSID and password which are included in packaging. Then follow the instructions from there on connecting to the admin portal.

They can walk you thru the process. OR connect Linksys router to your equipment, turn on computer, open your browser. The page will not load, this is OK. Type in 192.168.1.1 into address search bar. This should take your to Linksys router set-up.

I am thoroughly enjoying faster upload and download speeds as I stream music and videos. Web surfing is super fast from my old WRT54G. If you are still looking for a router, this is the one. Don't need a disc to connect. Simple as plug and play, then follow prompts on the screen. Very easy to install and no more multiple passwords to connect to the network from other devices. Thoroughly pleased with this router.
