“I currently have an internet provider for phone plus 2 other devices. All three devices in my hi rise apt. are accessed using a wireless connection. If this router is connected, properly, can I ditch the internet provider? Lastly, how do I secure my data?”

You cannot get rid of your Internet provider with this system. However, assuming that you do not have thick cement walls on all four sides of your apartment, you most likely could make a deal with one of your direct neighbors (upstairs, downstairs, or to a side) to use his/her Internet modem to connect this system as it should run through his/her wall into your apartment. Your data would be protected with a password. There is an option for a guest network. If you were sharing with a neighbor, you could set one password up for your and another for the "guest" (or your neighbor), but you would need to keep in mind that some functions (like wireless printing) are NOT allowed by the guest.
