I usually give them the same WiFi network name. The Linksys should have WiFi enabled and be in "bridge mode". The channels should be different. Most devices will pick the device with the stronger signal. Sometimes a device will connect to one WiFi and not let go. Then I have to give them two different WiFi network names and make a choice depending on where I'm located in a house and which hasn't the strongest signal. Comcast WiFi routers don't have that good a signal strength. Often, I'll have Comcast turn off the WiFi (via phone call) and put an Apple Extreme WiFi router instead.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.use the wireless router you purchased to hook to your Comcast router box , you can hard wire the Comcast router to the to the computer downstairs if your computer is not wireless capable if they are all wireless you don't have to use the Comcast router because the new wireless router is hooked to Comcast router ans is sending the signal from the Comcast roughter and use the wireless for upstairs all you have to do is put the code into your cell tv or laptop or whatever wireless device that is wireless capable . that is all you need to do walla internet all ove r the house, and as far as the signal can go outside, I hope that answers some questions, at my house I have one computer hardwired to Comcast router as it is not wireless and then the netgear I have also hooked to the Comcast router the netgear sends the internet signal all over the house,. works for all wireless products like tv cell laptop tablet anything wireless , as long as your put your code into the product that is wireless, it will remember that code anytime anyone comes to visit they can use your internet while visiting you, cool.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This router doesn't have a clear option to set it up as an Acces Point. What you do to make this work connecting the router in cascade. The steps you may need to follow are in the link below. http://www.linksys.com/ca/support-article?articleNum=132275 The main is idea is connect both routers to the lan ports and then, turn off the DCHP on the router that you want to use as an Access Point, so the Comcast gateway is the one sending the IP addresses to your hosts.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a twc modem/ wifi router, and my linksys router hooked to it, gives you two network options. i elected to bridge the twc modem/ router and just use the linksys for wifi. you would need to bridge the comcast gateway router in order to use the linksys alone. so the settings you need to change aren't on the linksys, but the comcast router. i don't know the procedure for that particular router, probably could do a websearch and find out
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Its all comcast it turns into your own network. I guess you would have two log in. I would only set up the links. You don't need the comcast . You could use either one. The other problem is the comcast probley don't have the protection the links would give you.. Some of the cable companys makes you use their's . Set them up together
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not positive, however I do know the comcast router must be shut off. If it cannot be, you will have to buy your own router, which is what I would do and buy an extended warranty also. I have a WOW "Ultra" system, it is made by Motorola Arris it also has the router and modem built into the gateway, WOW service tech's had to turn off the router. Router works fantastic. The Motirola Arris router in the gateway was about as cheap as you can get. I suspect Comcast's is the same. I use the 5.0 gig setting for my smart T.V. and I have a protected 2.4 gig for my applications and a 2.4 "guest" network for visitors.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You want to look for an Operation Mode toggle. Often times it is located in the Administrative tools/tab.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Just use the Linksys network. It should work a lot better to use the Communistcast gateway as your modem (only) and running an ethernet cable to the linksys router for a wifi network.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.you may want to look at installing dd-wrt on your router to unlock the functionality you're looking for
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Sounds like your Comcast gateway is a wireless router as well! When I set the Linksys up, there was only itself there as an access point. You could try to reset it by inserting a toothpick into the reset hole then go thru setup again. If its called linksys 2 over WiFi, might mean you didn't set it up completely and rename it. Also you need to set up your security if you have not. Just follow all steps.
