At home. You will go the Linksys website, go to support, and type in the model number. Here is the link for the AC1200 EA6350 http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=148481. FYI The internet provider will update firmware on their equipment only and you will most likely have to contact them to do that.

Download the file, login to the admin site and update. It was a simple process. Do not lose power or unplug it for any reason during your upgrade. Unless you want a brick.

You just plug it in and let it find the signal, It basically does the rest on its own. I find it a very good mid price Router, and it was easy to get working.
