Not sure what you are asking. If you use a cable internet service provider like Xfinity or Roadrunner, then yes, you would need a cable modem. You would connect the AC1200 to the cable modem.

You need some form of internet. If you have cable internet service then you need a cable modem to go with this router.

Only one Node need to be connected by cable to router, the rest connect by wifi.

If you plan to use the Linksys router at your home, then just make sure that the modem from your Internet Service Provider supports Ethernet connection, Nikko.
