“I live in the bottom half of a house, my landlady lives above me. I am piggy backing off her router but do not get a strong enough signal for Netflix on my new smart TV. Will a router extender help? What kind, placement, the walls are cinder block.”

I have this router placed in the basement and I watch Netflix in the first level of the house with no issues. Even on the second level, the signal is good but I don't have a TV there so can't say whether watching Netflix there would be problem.

You should be able to use a laptop or phone to measure signal strength to determine the best location. You may want to determine signal strength prior to purchase.
