Hi, Puppyluv7297! It is recommended to keep the antennas attached to the router for wider wireless range. If you want to expand the wireless network and optimize its performance, you can detach and replace then with another set of high performance antennas.

No the antennae screw onto the router itself. They are adjustable to bring better reception depending on the layout of your home

When the antennas are attached it will extend the range. Its just saying that it will work without them attached just not ad much range.

What it means is you can detach & attach to this router based on your needs , it can take up to 3 antenna's if you want the max range of this router.
