I have several Echo devices, including three dots, and have had no issues with this. I would suggest instead checking whether you have the same security protocol chosen for your wireless connection. My preference for the best compatibility is to use WPA/WPA2 personal as the security mode on the router.

You have to contact Amazon for the port codes. You might be able to go online and get them as well. If you have the app to your router it should be pretty straight forward on where to go to enter them. Linksys will help you for free if your router is still under warranty. If not then they charge. Hope this helps.
