Almost every modem/router combo device provided by an ISP (Like Comcast, Verizon, whoever) will have a LAN/Ethernet port out so you can connect it directly with a computer or a different router. This Linksys router should work just fine with it. Once you have it setup and working, you will need to turn off the wireless features of your ISPs modem/router so that it is not competing with the new router. If you have separate router and modem devices from your ISP (this is not common) then you can just unplug the router they gave you and replace it with this Linksys unit.
