• Hi Ken. For it to work, the Linksys MR8300 needs to be connected to a modem from your Internet Service Provider.

• You still need a modem like Netgear.

• This unit only provides Wi-Fi and lAN based access to an existing internet connection. It does not function like a modem, only a routing device.
