I have an xfinity router that has a built in N router. So, what I did was I bridged the modem to my AC 5400 router. The modem has built in software to allow you to bypass your built in router and connect to your new router. You log in to your modem to do this. Your login url depends on your modem brand. Anyway, after doing this which takes only a few minutes, I enjoy speeds like I never did before. Don't waste this router as a range extender.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You want to turn off the routing features of your modem combo (put it in pass-through mode to give the Linksys your WAN IP) and let this beauty do all of the routing. Make sure you don't double NAT it. I would recommend using the secure banking device as a sub device under the Linksys without causing a double NAT scenario if possible.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can leave the other wifi antennas on if you'd prefer but that's probably just going to cause unwanted interference. I have the same setup where my Google Fiber modem has the wifi access point built in. For a while I used both and connected some to the old.and some to the Linksys, but now I just turned off the old alltogether and have everything going through Linksys. It handles multiple devices VERY well. We have had 2 computers, 3 cell phones, 2 tablets and a PS3 running concurrently with no issues. I would move the secure router to the Linksys as well just to simplify your life, but my guess is that won't matter too much either way.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would turn off the wireless on your time warner combo unit. Then i would plug the R9000 into your router and set it up how you normally would. Then i would plug your banking router into one of the ethernet out ports on the R9000. this setup should work fine
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi, BrianM. Yes, you need to connect the two routers to your main router using an Ethernet cable. The router has no range extender capability. You may set the Linksys router to bridge mode, however this it will disable all its router capabilities, and turn it into an access point. The router will cease to act as a DHCP server and its built-in firewall as well as the NAT features will no longer be in effect.
