Hi, Tony. You will still need to set up the extender to your main router. You can perform the setup using your iPad.

After powering up the RE6300 you use your setting wifi and connect to the RE6300via network id: Linksys Extender Setup-XXX Go to Safari and use address http://externder.linksys.com This will get you to an easy setup menu setting connections and passwords. Very easy
