“I don't need to boost my signal, just make it private. I have a very old linksys router & I currently get a msg telling me my connection is public. Can I use this to make it private? If the 2 aren't compatible, can I just use this one? Thanks!!”

Hi, carole. If you meant to say that your old Linksys Routers supports WiFi with no security passphrase, then you may try accessing the routers settings and optimize the WiFi password. Thus, the Linksys RE6300 should work fine with most of the routers.
