Hi, I dont believe that's how adapters work. I am not the most knowledgeable but from what I understand an adapter is supposed to activate a function on your laptop or device that allows you to connect to a wifi source wirelessly. So that means you can connect to any wifi as long as you have access to the wifi. For example if they dont have wifi meaning they dont pay for any wifi then it wont change anything. It sounds like you don't have access to the internet at all. This device wont magically give you an instant connection to any wifi source it just allows you to connect to one wirelessly as long as u have a password for it. I hope that's helpful.
