I have a 3½ year old HP Envy 17t, running Win7. When we upgraded our internet service, I was unable to take advantage of the increased bandwidth with the original wireless adapter provided on my laptop. So, rather than buy a new, spunkier machine with upgraded adapter, I disabled the internal adapter card in my HP and acquired this external adapter device. It is meeting all expectations and performing well. My only complaint is that the internet connection occasionally does not "wake up" and make a good handshake when the laptop is restoring from sleep mode. It is only a minor inconvenience, as reconnecting is one mouse click away and very quick to reconnect. I never have any issues with the connection dropping when actively using the laptop.
