Yes, if you connect a Cat 5e to the output on the main unit (the one connected to your modem) you should be able to connect a node at a farther range than the WiFi will allow. Keep in mind that the maximum distance for Cat 5e cable is 328 feet so you would need to be within that distance for it to work. It's possible a longer run would work but not as well.
