“Are these routers? My youtube tv keeps freezing. Do they plug in the wall like an extender? Cant figure out if mesh will really help. Do i still need a modem? Any suggestion for a compatible one? I have xfinity.”

I have xfinity also. I paired it with the ARRIS - SURFboard 32 X 8 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem. They act as the router for me. I have a three-level townhouse so I plugged one in on each level. It was expensive but works well and I avoid a monthly rental and will pay for itself after a year or so

Yes, al. The Velop nodes are routers which need to be plugged into the wall outlet. The main node needs to be wired into the modem while the other nodes can be connected wirelessly or wired to each other, whichever works for you. Lastly, any modem should be fine too.
