Most devices such as your smart phone or laptop will connect to the optimal node given that there is solely one wireless point available when searching wifi networks. Although, I have found that my Amazon Echo can pick up the distinct channels of the nodes and will connect to one specific node, which is strange.

I"m not sure but once you're connected to the network you're not node specific connected. I imagine the software handles which note to connect base on range. But that said I believe it just works as one big network.
