Hi, SirKnight. The WRT3200ACM can deliver a maximum speed of 600 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and up to 2.6 Gbps on the 5 GHz band, while the EA8500 supports data rates up to 800 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 1733 Mbps on the 5 GHz. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This router has Open source, allowing you to set up a vpn for added security, the EA8500 does not.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The EA8500 Sucks. It quit on me in under a year. It has to be restarted everyday to reach ISP supplied speed. Under high usage i.e. gaming/streaming it would drop speed and have to be restarted.

However; unless your ISP is delivering those higher data rates to your modem, assuming your Modem can handle those higher data speeds, then this EA8500 would become an overkill for your needs. I myself, just installed the Linksys WRT3200ACM Router along with the Linksys 8-port Gigabit Switch in my 2500 foot two level home, and all my (12) connected wired and wireless items work wonderful without any dropouts at all. You can go to the Linksys website and just compare both Routers for yourself, and do check with your IPS to see which speeds are being delivered to your home. Hopes this helps.
