We noticed the same thing. We went to Amazon and bought a very respectable case for 1/2 the price. Just make sure you specify Lively or Lively 2. They are not interchangeable.

You can get cases for the Alcatel phone. The jitterbug phone is nothing special except for the red police/ambulance option. Buy one of the cheap purses that you can even wear around your neck, that is way more reasonable that this simple case.

Try texting. It works pretty good, and the key pad is not as small as on other phones. Lively did well to provide a larger keypad for us seniors. It also has the advantage that many of our connections have texting available and are most willing to text. The younger generation likes to do the texting.
