They are similar, but the Lively is much more complicated for what should be simple things. Don't believe those saying they are the same; you will be sorely disappointed!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. When doing the exact same thing on both phones, the Flip 2 takes more button presses. For my Mom and another relative, the flip 2 seems slightly more complicated.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My mother just upgraded from the original Greatcall Flip to the Lively Flip 2. They are about the same size, layout and appearance. But there are some significant differences externally, some good, some bad (or course, they are probably entirely different internally as well). I will list a few of the differences. - Some of the Flip 2 buttons are smaller. Text on the buttons is smaller and harder to read. The YES and NO buttons are now OK and BACK, and the original UP and DOWN buttons are replaced with a quad of UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT buttons; this makes it more like the common navigations buttons found on lots of other equipment, and is needed because the phone screen navigation has become more complex. - The Flip 2 is more complex to use, requires many more button presses to do things that the original did with just two or three presses. The original's simple set of options and YES NO answers is replaced with a more capable yet more elaborate menu navigation scheme. I think many/most of elderly customers will hate this change, and many won't be able to deal with it. - The Flip 2 gives the user a lot more leeway in how the phone menu looks and feels. It is possible to customize it to remove unwanted options, to change the size of the screen text, etc. - The Flip 2 allows setting the ringtone, heatset, speaker, headphone volumes, then locking them so that the user cannot accidentally change them by pressing the side buttons during handling of the phone. - The Flip 2 has color on the display, which seems to not make things any easier for the user. For my mother, it makes it more difficult to select items from the Contacts (formerly the Phone Book). - The Contacts list (formerly the Phone Book) seems to always automatically alphabetize the order of entries, and it seems that the order cannot be changed to one of preference (e.g. having the most often called numbers be at the top of the list, something the original did by default...it ordered entries according to order they were entered). When passing from the last entry in the "A" section to the "B" section (for example), it takes two button presses, annoying. It has added entries that are there by default and which apparently cannot be deleted, suich as calling customer service. - The Flip 2 charger cable is now a USB-C type, which is a good thing in that it can be plugged in either way, but not so good when, like my mother, she has several chargers around the house, all of which now need new cables in order to work with the new phone. My mother had to change to the Flip 2 because some kind of system-wide change was made that suddenly rendered her older Flip inoperative (this was the end of January 2023). Greatcall told her that they were replacing all original Flip phones with the Flip 2 for free. Even if the customer prefers the original, and even if they can't figure out the new Flip 2, the change is not an option. The jury is still out on whether she will be able to figure out how to use the new phone.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Lot of difference. My cell that says jitterbug on it works perfeclfabett. 2 or 3 clicks does about anything & you can set up your contacts your way not their way. The flip 2 says lively on front is junk. Takes 10 to 15 clicks to do anything & contacts have to be their way not your way. I hate this thing. If i cannot use my jitterbug with lively i will try to find a service that i can
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Did I miss something? My Jitterbug flip doesn't have text messaging while the flip 2 apparently does. Isn't that a big difference?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It’s the exact same phone... I was confused myself. It has to do with the merger/takeover with Lively/Great Call??? They need to combine the literature to one name!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Great question. There is no difference! The Lively Flip is now called Jitterbug Flip2. It comes with the same features and same support with the Jitterbug name you know and love.
