• I just tested this, and as the only microphone currently attached to my computer, I can confirm that it does indeed work to communicate with Cortana.

• Yes it can. This is one of the reasons I wanted the camera and mic combo. My computer recognized the camera and mic and led me through the hook up process to cortana and Skype.
