Hello dee! The C615 1080 Webcam with HD Light Correction doesn't have a motion detection feature no, so you won't be able to use it as a security camera in example. That would be the same for all our Webcams, which are more designed for conference calling / streaming / content creation, and not so much for Home Security. - Mathieu from Logitech
