• Yes. It will clamp fine. I have a glass table only 1/4 of an inch and it works fine.

• Yes, 2” thick is thick for a desk. We have ours clamped to 3/4” and it is very tight.

• 2” is pretty thick but if that’s not what you meant and it’s thinner you can clamp an extra piece of wood on the bottom of your desk to stiffen it up .
