You can still hear the game sound but the microphone gets switched to the one on the wire itself. Microphone and buttons on the headset are useless unless it is being used wireless.

Please try again later.yes xbox software has it so if you plug in any headphones with a mic, you can press the xbox button go over the gear (settings) and down to sound and then it has like a like controller or person move it to the person to hear just game chat, move it to the controller to hear just game music sounds, or put it the middle and youll hear both. Or if you get the chatpad you can do it directly on the controller.
