This device only controls IR (infrared) devices not RF (radio frequency) devices. It will learn from other IR remotes that you have. You just have to set it up during programming by pointing the head of the original remote at the tail of the new remote. Many RF devices can also be controlled by IR remotes. DirecTV Genie devices for example come with RF remotes, but can be controlled by IR remotes such as this one.
