Hi Jay. Haven't had this issue so far with mine. Couple of things you can do. First check the settings for your remote via the software and change the time the main display lights up. I have mine set at 10 secs. Next I would consider buying some rechargeable AA batteries. I got mine on Amazon for a cheap price. These types of remotes will always eat through batteries fast. Finally, if you still have problems call Logitech's helpline. They have some wonderful people there that will help you with any issues and get you a replacement if need be. Good luck.

I've had my 665 remote since about the first of Dec 2020 so not sure how the batteries will hold up. I know it seems like - even with Lithium batteries - my previous remote - a Logitech 650 - seemed to go through batteries rather quickly. I'm sure using lithium will extend their life.

That would decrease the battery life a significant amount, as its only meant to be lit when you're using the remote. If that is not the case, be sure to use good alkaline batteries. There are many off-brand batteries that do not perform up to the standards of Energizers and Duracell and similar standard batteries.
