“My TV is a Sony XF 900 TV. Specifically The TV remote has an "Apps" Button. I don't see a "Apps" Option when re-programming the keys for an activity or for that matter any way to program a Key for APPs”

Use a smart device with the "Harmony" app. Toggle to your "SONY XF 900" TV device. Scroll through the available commands, specifically for the TV, to find "Apps". Try to enable this command to a specific key from the available SONY TV options. Although, you may need to upgrade to the Harmony Elite for quicker, easier access to advanced device commands.
