No mater what you use, the bridge is necessary to control Hue lighting. The Hub recognizes a ton of actual makes and models of TV's and already has the controls available once you set it up. I was disappointed in having to buy another item to work out the lights, but once done I am more than happy with the operation. They say you can operate as many as 50 Bulbs through one bridge... couple that with the hub and make it way more than 50 pieces of controlled equipment total. I haven't done any of the Fancy "Scene" set-ups, but understand how to do it and how some may want that option. Some really cool stuff and a really cool time we live in to be able to actually do what the guys on Star Trek have acted out for years.
