The remote itself doesn't emit IR, but the base and the included IR blaster does. You essentially get two separate IR transmitters with this device that spray the entire room and if placed correctly will usually hit every device. You can place the IR blaster, which includes about 8 feet of cable, by the DVR in the other room and the base by the TV. Should work fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.2 ways you can do it: one is to use CEC to turn TV on/off, but the 2nd way is better IMO, just add a IR flasher to the hub and run it to the TV IR eye. The remote itself does not emit IR.
