does this work with the roku streaming stick+ i had just purchased the harmony 665 well it says it worked for roku but it does not with the one i have so ill be returning it come to find out its a ir remote and the stick work over the net null

Yes. This one comes with the hub which is where the actual control takes place. The hub this comes with also can control the Roku devices that support IP control. Once added, the hub can control any Roku model (IR or IP) with the included remote or by the free app on your mobile device.

My understanding is that this remote (Harmony 665) will work with the Roku Ultra, since this unit includes an IR interface. The Roku Stick does not use IR, so this remote supposedly does not work with the Stick

Yes, that is one of the reasons i got this device. It is capable of controlling roku streaming sticks and roku tvs via their IP based interface(Basically the way the roku remote app works on mobile) . This plus Alexa and smartthings integration were what drew me to the harmony hub. I can also say that all the harmony hub devices are the same. There is the 8 device hub that is in most configurations and the 15 device hub in the ultimate confg. Primary difference in sets is the type of remote you get

I had a similar issue the the Harmony 665 and Streaming Stick. Within the Button commands section in the Harmony app, there are zero commands. There is not a list to choose from to assign the corresponding button. 

It makes since that if the Streaming Stick does not use IR, then it is not compatible with the 665. Lesson learned.

I could not get it to control the fire tv stick, and we don't have a roku stick, but it did find and control my roku 3 over ip. That was cool. I would think since roku should all be using the same control protocol the stick should be controlled up as well.

The Harmony remote is an IR based blaster with RF hand held remote.I have not tried this remote with any streaming sticks.
