“Do you have to have a smart tv in order for this to work? Will this work with Alexa to change channels with cable? Can you say "Alexa go change to Disney channel"?”

No smart TV needed.. This remote isn't voice-activated, nor will it accept any voice commands/requests, since it doesn't include a built-in microphone.
