• If you do not have the hub and your equipment is behind a close door or you do not have line of sight to your equipment, then this remote will not work with out the hub.

• It works perfectly fine without the hub. the hub is just an extender and does improve the overall quality, it is not requured.

• No. This is a full functioning stand alone remote equipped with infrared, Bluetooth and RF transmission. The hub is require to communicate with your system when equipment is not in line of site or behind doors. Also the hub allows system control via cellular device.

• No the charging base only operates as a charger for the remote. You do have to return your remote to the charging base almost daily which for me is not convenient.

• Not the hub but you need to do a one time configuration with you computer which is really simple.
