“Greetings. I purchased 3 of these to replace my Harmony 650 models and awaiting delivery. I am hoping these don't require a hub as I don't plan on using them to control anything but home theater set-ups. Will these work as such and be an improvement?”

Hello gman, The remotes will work fine without the hub. I believe you will like the remote it may take some time to get used to the buttons and the touchscreen, but once you have it customized to your needs. You will enjoy the remote.
