Do not know about working with Linux but there is a keyboard button to control illumination.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The keyboard connects to your computer via USB so it will plug into any computer with a USB port. The illumination features are controlled by the the keyboard. I love this keyboard. I'm on my second one with the first one lasting several years and still operated perfectly. I replaced it only because of cosmetic wear from my hands.
